The reticular activator.

There is a part of the human brain called the reticular activator system. It’s a group of cells about the size of the tip of your little finger. It’s the filter in your brain for everything that comes into your consciousness. Essentially it lets in (and retains) anything that is relevant and important to you and filters out anything that isn’t. Accordingly, when you read your visualization each morning, you reinforce for the reticular activator what is important and significant to you.

This is why, from a biology standpoint, the law of attraction works. When you have a clear and crisp vision of what you want, you attract it…both from the outside world and from your inside world.

Your subconscious mind-it works with the reticular activator

The subconscious mind’s function is to store and retrieve data let in by the reticular activator. It’s job is to ensure that you respond (your everyday actions and thoughts) exactly the way you are programed.

Your subconscious mind makes everything you say and do fit a pattern consistent with your self-concept. It does NOT think and reason independently. It merely obeys the commands it receives from the conscious mind .Your conscious mind sets the intention, your subconscious mind simply obeys and creates the action.

Your ability to influence your subconscious mind comes down to repetition. It will not begin to respond until you’ve read your visualization approximately 21 days in a row. But after 21 days, your subconscious mind causes you to feel emotionally and physically “uncomfortable’…. whenever you attempt to go against how you are programed. It’s the “working together” of the reticular activator and the subconscious mind that makes what you read each morning in your visualization show up later each day in your life, and do so automatically.

timemag“We literally create our own realities through how we think”

In a cover story in Time Magazine, the amazing recent discoveries about the human mind were explained in a very understandable way. The article outlined the latest science behind how we can manipulate our subconscious mind in order to produce results in our life.

“If we think a certain way enough, we begin to believe it. And when we believe something, we act on that belief. And as we continually act on certain beliefs, and those belief based actions become habits, certain types of outcomes accrue. That’s not luck or magic, it’s science.”
– Neuroscientist Tali Sharot, from the Time Magazine article.

Understanding Your Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious mind is like a huge memory bank. Its capacity is virtually unlimited. It permanently stores everything that ever happens to you.

By the time you reach the age of 21, you’ve already permanently stored more than one hundred times the contents of the entire Encyclopedia Britannica.

Under hypnosis, older people can often remember, with perfect clarity, events from fifty years before. Your unconscious memory is virtually perfect. It is your conscious recall that is suspect.

The function of your subconscious mind is to store and retrieve data. Its job is to ensure that you respond exactly the way you are programmed. Your subconscious mind makes everything you say and do fit a pattern consistent with your self-concept, your “master program.”

Your subconscious mind is subjective, as mentioned previously. It does not think or reason independently; it merely obeys the commands it receives from your conscious mind. Just as your conscious mind can be thought of as the gardener, planting seeds, your subconscious mind can be thought of as the garden, or fertile soil, in which the seeds germinate and grow.

Your conscious mind commands and your subconscious mind obeys and creates the action.

Your subconscious mind is an unquestioning servant that works day and night to make your behavior fits a pattern consistent with youremotionalized thoughts, hopes, and desires3. Your subconscious mind grows either flowers or weeds in the garden of your life, whichever you plant by the mental equivalents you create via your conscious mind intentions.

Your subconscious mind has what is called a homeostatic impulse. It keeps your body temperature at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, just as it keeps you breathing regularly and keeps your heart beating at a certain rate. Through your autonomic nervous system, it maintains a balance among the hundreds of chemicals in your billions of cells so that your entire physical machine functions in complete harmony most of the time.

Your subconscious mind also practices homeostasis in your mental realm, by keeping you thinking and acting in a manner consistent with what you have done and said in the past.

All your habits of thinking and acting are stored in your subconscious mind. It has memorized all your comfort zones and it works to keep you in them.

Your subconscious mind causes you to feel emotionally and physically uncomfortable whenever you attempt to do anything different from how you are programmed.

To influence the subconscious mind, it requires daily repetition. It does not respond to logic like the conscious mind. That’s why a daily visualization is so effective in influencing the subconscious mind. It’s the ideal way to live a life of intention.
